No one knew how long the black-and-white dog had been sleeping in the middle of the flower garden.
Curled into a little ball on the soft green grass, he slept peacefully beneath the gentle sunlight.
Colorful flowers bloomed all around him, swaying softly in the warm breeze.
Perhaps he had spent the entire morning running through the garden.
Or perhaps the grass had simply been too comfortable to resist.
From a distance, two pure white cats slowly approached.
They walked carefully between the flowers, placing each paw down as quietly as possible.
They did not want to disturb their sleeping friend.
When they reached him, the two cats sat beside the dog and tilted their heads curiously.
One watched his ears twitch gently.
The other stared at his little nose, which moved every few seconds as though he were dreaming about something delicious.
The cats looked at each other.
Should they wake him?
Or should they simply stay nearby and guard his peaceful nap?
After a quiet moment, one cat leaned down and gently licked the dog’s cheek.
The other softly touched its nose to his, then rubbed its head against his neck.
The dog stirred.
His eyes slowly opened.
The first thing he saw was two fluffy white faces right beside him.
But he was not frightened.
Instead, his tail began wagging gently against the grass.
He lifted his head and softly nuzzled each cat, as though saying,
“Thank you for coming to find me.”
Then the dog lay back down.
The two cats quietly curled up beside him, one on each side.
Surrounded by bright flowers and warm sunlight, the three friends rested close together.
They did not need words.
They did not need grand promises.
All they needed was one gentle lick…
One soft nuzzle…
And the comfort of knowing that they were not alone.
Sometimes, the most beautiful friendships do not begin with something extraordinary.
Sometimes, they begin when you open your eyes after a peaceful nap…
And discover that the friends you love have been quietly staying by your side.
