No one knew how long the tiny brown-and-white Pit Bull puppy had been sitting there in the sunny garden.
He was only about three months old, small and chubby, with bright curious eyes and a tail that never seemed to stop wagging.
Right in front of him stood a very unusual new friend.
A green parrot with a curved yellow beak.
The two little animals looked straight into each other’s eyes.
Neither of them made a sound.
The puppy tilted his head slightly.
The parrot blinked and tilted its head back, almost as if it were answering him.
For a few quiet moments, they simply stared at one another with pure curiosity, as though each of them was wondering the exact same thing:
“Who are you?”
The puppy’s tail wagged a little faster.
He didn’t seem frightened at all.
Instead, he looked more and more interested, as if he had already decided that this colorful little bird might become someone special.
Then, very slowly, the puppy lowered his head.
He moved gently, carefully, and with surprising tenderness.
Little by little, he leaned closer and softly nuzzled his head against the parrot, offering the sweetest greeting he knew.
The parrot did not move away.
Instead, it gently pressed its head against the puppy’s cheek and began to softly nibble and preen the fur on his forehead.
It was such a tiny gesture.
But it said everything.
Under the warm sunlight, the puppy and the parrot stood close together, calm and peaceful, sharing a moment so soft and sweet that it hardly seemed real.
One had four little paws.

The other had bright green feathers and wings.
They were completely different in every way.
And yet, somehow, they understood each other perfectly.
Perhaps friendship does not always need words.
Perhaps it does not even need two hearts that are the same.
Sometimes, it begins with one curious look…
One gentle moment…
And one soft little touch that says,
“I like you.”
And just like that, a beautiful little friendship began.
